UnChat ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name.

Content you submit: Text you submit for processing is transmitted to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate humanized output. We store the original and humanized versions in your Documents history so you can access them later.

Usage data: We track the number of words you process each month to enforce your subscription's word limits.

Billing information: Payment details are handled entirely by our third-party payment processor. We store only your subscription status — we never see or store your full card number.

Log data: Like most web services, our servers automatically record information including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security, debugging, and service improvement.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Enforce word limits and usage quotas
• Send transactional emails (receipts, account notifications)
• Respond to support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your submitted text to train AI models.

We share your data only in the following circumstances:

• AI processing provider: Text you submit is sent to our AI processing provider to generate humanized output. Their use of this data is governed by their own privacy policy.
• Database and authentication provider: Your account data and documents are stored with our hosted database provider.
• Payment processor: Payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor. Your payment information is subject to their privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of UnChat, our users, or the public.

We retain your account information and documents for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records).

You can delete individual documents from your dashboard at any time.

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. We use only functional and analytics cookies — we do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features of the Service may not function correctly without them.

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, row-level database security, and access controls. However, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Request a portable copy of your data

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

UnChat is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify you by email or through the Service where appropriate.

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
