Terms of Service

By accessing or using UnChat ("the Service," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, you are prohibited from using the Service and must discontinue use immediately.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

UnChat is an AI-powered writing assistance platform that rewrites text to improve clarity, naturalness, and readability. The Service uses large language models to process submitted text and return transformed versions.

UnChat is intended for legitimate writing improvement purposes including, but not limited to, improving the clarity of drafts, adapting tone for different audiences, and refining non-native language writing.

To access certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account

We reserve the right to terminate accounts, remove content, or cancel orders at our sole discretion.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years of age
• You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
• You will not access the Service through automated or non-human means
• You will not use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Your use of the Service will not violate any applicable law or regulation
• You own or have the necessary rights to any content you submit to the Service

Your content: You retain ownership of any text you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant UnChat a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Our content: The Service, including its original content (excluding user submissions), features, and functionality, is and will remain the exclusive property of UnChat and its licensors. Our trademarks, service marks, and logos may not be used without our prior written consent.

Output ownership: You own the humanized output generated from your submitted content. UnChat makes no claim to ownership of output generated on your behalf.

The Service is offered under a subscription model with the following tiers: Free, Starter, Pro, Elite, and Teams. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis and are non-refundable except as described below.

Refund policy: You may request a full refund within 3 days of your initial subscription purchase if you are not satisfied with the Service. Refund requests must be submitted to support@unchat.ai. Renewals are not eligible for refunds.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until the period ends.

Upgrades and downgrades: Changes to your subscription tier take effect immediately. Prorated charges or credits will be applied where applicable.

We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' advance notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

Each subscription tier includes a monthly word allowance and a per-request word limit. These limits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused words do not roll over to the following month.

Using automation, scripts, or any non-human means to exceed these limits or circumvent rate controls is prohibited and may result in immediate account termination without refund.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Submit, distribute, or facilitate the spread of misinformation or deceptive content
• Produce content intended to deceive in contexts where honesty is legally or ethically required (e.g., sworn statements, legal filings, medical documentation)
• Infringe any intellectual property rights of any third party
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or harm any person or group
• Generate spam, phishing content, or unsolicited commercial communications
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service
• Circumvent any security, access control, or usage limit of the Service
• Resell, sublicense, or commercialize the Service or its output without written authorization from UnChat
• Use the Service in any manner that could disable, overburden, or impair our infrastructure
• Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, or violates any applicable law

UnChat uses AI to transform text. The output generated by the Service is provided "as is" and for informational and writing assistance purposes only.

We make no guarantee that content processed by UnChat will pass any specific AI detection tool, system, or service. Detection systems change frequently, and results will vary based on input content, target platform, and detector updates.

Academic integrity: Using AI-humanized text to misrepresent authorship in academic work — where AI assistance is prohibited — may violate your institution's academic integrity policies. UnChat is not responsible for disciplinary consequences arising from such use. Users are solely responsible for compliance with the rules of any institution, employer, or platform they submit work to.

The Service does not endorse or encourage dishonest use of its output. UnChat is a writing tool; how you use it is your responsibility.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

The Service integrates with third-party providers including Stripe (payments), Supabase (authentication and data storage), and Anthropic (AI processing). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of any third-party services.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL UNCHAT, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO UNCHAT IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100 USD.

Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Informal resolution: Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@unchat.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make good-faith efforts to resolve any issue within 30 days.

Binding arbitration: If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in English. Each party will bear its own costs unless the arbitrator determines otherwise.

Class action waiver: You agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

Exceptions: Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration.

UnChat is built to help people communicate better. We believe in the responsible use of AI and ask all users to consider the broader impact of what they create.

We specifically ask that you do not use the Service to:

• Produce content that misleads, manipulates, or harms others
• Automate the creation of disinformation at scale
• Submit work as your own in contexts where that misrepresentation could have real consequences for others (e.g., professional certifications, medical claims)

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account we believe is being used unethically, even in the absence of a specific policy violation.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without prior notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or the integrity of the Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including IP rights, warranty disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution clauses.
